Roads across Torbay are being targeted in a £250,000 works programme aimed at reducing the risk of potholes.

The dreaded pothole.
Treatment will involve laying a thin ‘micro-asphalt’ surface in a similar manner to earlier work successfully completed in March.
The work is being funded with the aid of a £129,400 Department of Transport grant, with Torbay Council allocating £120,000.
Cllr Chris Lewis, said:
"We will initially target roads where preventative maintenance can still be carried out, rather than roads where more substantial works are required.
"Roads where more significant deterioration has occurred may be beyond the scope of this particular project. However, all such roads are recorded and will be monitored with a view to being programmed for work when funding permits.
"Meanwhile our regular and robust regime of safety inspections will be carried out by our team of highway inspectors to record and repair defects to keep the Bay’s roads safe for all users.
"In order to assist the team of inspectors we are only too happy to receive any reports of defects that can then be assessed and repaired as required. Please report any of these defects be emailing details to Highways@torbay.gov.uk or by telephoning 01803 207720."
Details of the roads being treated and the timing of the works themselves will be released as soon as the contract is agreed.

Great fun driving in October then... just when the usual summer rush is over. Asphalt should be used for roads in this country. The USA use asphalt and they don't get nearly the problems that we get. But I guess the English way is to save by not using it and then spend more on solving the problem later.
