The storm wrecks balloon hooray!

How good is it that mother nature has done what many have longed to do here in Torbay? - to be rid of the eyesore, the balloon.
And they reckon (I have heard from our local bus driver) that it will cost £200,000 to repair!
I say not to bother.
You'd think they would have deflated it during the winter months anyway?

I think it is an eye sore in that particular place and very ill advised to place something like that where it is suceptable to the weather(as the recent damage has proven). it could have been thought about. It cost too much, it went against the law and to go on it costs too much. It has been put there as always by Torbay council because they think it will please tourists. Torbay council are happy to ruin their heritage sites
oldway mansion, paignton green, parkfield house etc.
if they spent more money on doing these areas up and promoting what they were and celebrating the heritage it would appease the locals and hopefully attract tourists.
I am not old(mid 30's) i am not officially local as i have not lived here long enough. I am happy for change but by enhancing what Torbay has to offer.

ReportThe balloon was in the wrong place and apparantly, against local by-laws. Money talks and, personally, I'm glad it's gone. Perhaps the next time the Council decides to allow infringements of the by-laws, they will ask the townspeople and abide by their voice.

ReportI guess some of us old groaners, being pensioners and all, cant afford - what is it - £14 for ten minutes?
You can get a better view from the top of a double decker bus enroute from Plymouth to Dartmouth and for us that's for free!

ReportThought it was a commercial venture, Therefore has nothing to do with the council apart from the initial involvement of allowing it to be sited on Tor Abbey Green. And so one would assume it will be down to the company who owns it to decide if its a viable proposition or not.

ReportI cant understand why so many people dislike it so much.
The views from it are fantastic!!
The ones doing the moaning are the ones that have never been on it.
Torbay is just full of old moaners who are living in the past and dont want any change!!
