Torbay Leisure Centre in need of a revamp?
A survey has been developed to find out how sport and recreation facilities at Clennon Valley and Goodrington are currently used and what residents would like to see in the future.
Cllr Dave Butt said: "The Torbay Leisure Centre and the sports pitches at Clennon Valley are now well over 30 years old and are in need of modernisation and major repair.
"However, we are aware that over time the needs of our residents may have changed and a simple upgrade of the existing facilities may not be sufficient.
"Therefore we thought it would be a good opportunity to find out what residents want in terms of future sport provision. Feedback from our residents will not only help us to develop facilities that best meet their needs but will also help us to apply for any future funding opportunities."
As part of the survey the council is also taking the opportunity to ask questions about possible improvements at Broadsands and potential use for council-owned land at Brokenbury, Churston.
Cllr Butt added: "In the future we would like to improve the tourism facilities and enhance the environmental aspects of Broadsands Beach as well as explore proposals for a non motorised water sports academy.
"We have also received proposals from the local community to use council-owned land at Churston as a sport facility or a rural recreation project.
"Decisions on both Broadsands and Churston are important, not just for the local community but for the whole of Torbay, so we are keen to find out if residents would be supportive of any future proposals."
Residents wishing to take part in the survey can do so until Monday 14 March via the online survey at http://www.torbay.gov.uk/currentconsultation. Alternatively hard copies will be available from all local libraries and Torbay Leisure Centre from Tuesday 1 March.

Parking is and has always been one of Torbay's biggest problems. I'd imagine that many tourists are put off by this too.

ReportI've been known to get a parking ticket or two while using Clennon Valley. I think it's disgraceful that you have to pay for parking at a Leisure centre.
