Torbay's celebrating a successful crop of A-level results with all local schools reporting that students have achieved the new A* grade.

Good results in the Bay.
To achieve an A* students have to score an A overall, plus at least 90% in each paper in the second year of their course. Exams regulator Ofqual had predicted that 7% of students would get an A* - some of Torbay schools have exceeded this figure.
The average point score per student in Torbay has increased significantly from 715 in 2009 to 745 in 2010.
The vast majority of A-level students in the Bay have also successfully secured university places. This is despite national reports that many students across the country face disappointment.
Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Councillor Anna Tolchard, said: "Congratulations to all these young people, who have worked so hard to achieve their A Levels. Getting good A-level results is so important in the current economic climate. I would also like to congratulate our schools for working so effectively in helping these students reach their full potential."
