The fun (or boredom) of the summer holidays will shortly be over and the school routine will start all over again.

Stationary, uniform, shoes, coats, bags, will all need to be ticked off the checklist in the next few weeks.

Despite the slating that Paignton town centre often receives it does have plenty of shops that sell stationary.

Axworthys is the obvious choice. They have the widest range along with ever-friendly staff that certainly know their stuff. The shop also stocks lots of arts and craft items.

Also on Palace Avenue is Boss Office Supplies. As well as standard stationary they also stock computer consumables.

WH Smith, as you’d expect, also has a good selection and is a popular choice for the summer school shop.

It also might be worth checking out many of Paignton’s famed discount shops (too many to mention) for ultra-cheap pens, note pads etc.

If you want to avoid the town centre then Sainsbury’s and Morrisons stock stationary too and at very good value.

School uniform used to be very much the domain of Rossiters. But now that’s gone one has to look to the big supermarkets in the Bay for trousers, skirts and polos etc. These stores also stock bags and rucksacks.

Shoes are one of the more important items and Clarks in Crossways is always a favourite with parents. They sell a wide variety and at good value.

Be sure to check out our schools section that includes league tables and information on all the primary and secondary schools is the Paignton area.

Please feel free to add your recommendations and experiences for school shopping in Paignton.
