GCSE results in Torbay are again “best ever” (yawn)

Shock horror… GCSE results in the Bay published yesterday were apparently the “best ever”.

Yes they were even better than the “best ever” results last year and the “best ever” results the year before… and so on and so on.

Torbay Council said that these “excellent” results were attributed to a number of factors including “including significant improvements in individual schools; a Bay-wide approach to improving attendance and ongoing improvements to the curriculum and the quality of teaching and learning.”

This statement surely could have been copied and pasted form nearly every authority around the country.

Indeed a half-hour trawl through a news sources on the internet around the country and I could not find one story of GCSE results not being “excellent”.

With such improvements year on year I wonder where it ends? Will there come a time when all students get 100 per cent and then we have to find new exams…
