It's all about location with the Boathouse. Panoramic views of the bay from the outside terrace, which is a real sun trap. It's not cheap, and it's not fast, but the food is good and drinks are OK. On a summer's evening, though, there really isn't anywhere better.

Lovely location on Preston seafront and a very friendly pub. Large outside seating area, which can however get quite wet when the tide is in and it’s windy! We’ve seen a couple who got completely drenched after high waves hit their table! But it just adds to the atmosphere! The food is great (they do BBQs when the weather is nice) and reasonably priced, and the views — outstanding!!

ReportA rare opportunity to have a drink and some food with stunning views. And, if it is a bit chilly out, their fire inside provides a comfy, cosy place to relax and socialise.

Great to sit outside with a drink. I thought the food was a bit pricey and not a lot of choice. The one thing I do have a gripe about is the access to the loo for disabled customers, this proved really bad on a recent visit. Sorry to be a bit negative but sort out those loos or only cater for the more able.
This stylish bar is overlooks Preston beach giving fantastic views across the bay.
Sitting on the terrace in the summer sun with a wine or beer is one of the must do experiences in Paignton. The food much of it locally sourced is of fine reputation. My favourite is the 12 chilli calzone pizza! Or perhaps the chilli burger (yes, I like chilli!)
Despite the location the prices are very, very reasonable.
I say newish as its prob been going for a few years now but feels fresh and exciting compared to some of the other old dour pubs round here.
They do lovely big pizzas which I can highly recommend and the surroundings to eat them in are all bright and modern.
The place has a nice surfy feel to it and the best thing about it is it's beer garden out the back where you can happily look out to sea sinking a few san miguels in the process... (when the weather behaves itself!)
