About

Est. 1969, Paignton’s Torbay Karate Club provides expert tuition in the traditional martial art of Shotokan Karate, retaining all intended benefits for personal development, confidence, fitness and self-defence. Instructors are Black Belts, qualified, insured, hold current first aid qualifications and Enhanced CRB (DBS) checked. Chief Instructor Ray Alsop is a 5th Dan Black Belt and grading examiner is Andy Sherry 9th Dan (first person in the UK to be awarded a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate).

Why I like Paignton

Paignton has its challenges but still is a community with great heart and some fantastic people who are willing to work hard for great personal satisfaction, benefitting themselves and their families. We are so proud of all our students at Torbay Karate Club and seeing them grow in confidence and succeed.
