Bay MP Adrian Sanders met with Paignton residents Elli Bennett and Rose Hewitt yesterday in Westminster to discuss proposed reductions in the disability living allowance budget.
Both constituents, who receive the benefit due to their visual impairment, raised concerns during a national lobby of Parliament over cuts to the overall budget for disability support and individual cuts being imposed by the decisions of local councils.
Adrian has been raising concerns with disability minister Maria Miller in recent months to ensure that any cuts did not harm vulnerable residents and pledged to continue to do so.
Adrian said: “We all know that spending cuts have to be made but they must be made in a way that protects the most vulnerable in society as we pledged in the Coalition Agreement. I will be pressing the Government to change its proposals to ensure that this happens.”
