CUPCAKES are a recipe for success for a pair of Paignton businesswomen.
Sheena Robinson and Lesley Evans are putting their faith in the commercial success of cupcakes.
The pair cooked up the idea after Lesley read an article in a magazine, and now they have open their own café and cupcake shop — called Cupcakes.
“We have been friends since we were 14 and have always talked about opening our own cafe, and it went from there,” said Sheena.
“The article said that in the present climate, people can’t find the money to go out and treat themselves to things like clothes, but they can go out and buy something like a cupcake.”
Sheena said they both loved cooking and the pair made all their own stock.
The cupcakes are the cherry on top for the cafe, in Torbay Road, Paignton. Cupcakes also offers light lunches, fruitcakes, scones, gluten-free and dairy-free cakes.
“We opened two weeks ago and it has been going really well since,” said Sheena.
“There have been some local people that have already started coming in regularly. We are really pleased with it and we have been loving doing it.”
Cupcakes is in Torbay Road, Paignton. It is open from 9.30am to 4.45pm seven days a week.
