£500 Digital Media Grant up for grabs for those helping local communities in Paignton

Media Trust has 20 x £500 awards to give away before the end of March 2010 (that’s one every week) to those using digital media to help empower disadvantaged communities.
If you’re helping to give your community a voice through digital media they would like to hear from you, and so would many other communities seeking help.
Projects selected will be showcased on their website http://www.mediatrust.org/communityvoices, plus each project will receive a bursary for a place at one of our training events, and a wealth of additional communications support.
Media Trust’s Development Director, Gavin Sheppard, says “We know that there is a wealth of great digital media work already going on in the community, and these awards will help to highlight that excellence, and inspire new communities to find their voice and make it heard.”
If you would like to share your success story you can email us them outlining either in writing, video or audio, or however you feel most comfortable, the three following points:
1. How have you used digital media to give a voice to a disadvantaged community?
2. What impact has this had on the community?
3. Could this be inspirational to other community groups?
Please also include an attachment or link to your digital media product if possible.
Your submission will be judged by a panel of Media Trust staff and we will assign one award every week until March 2010.
To apply for a pilot project or if you are interested in becoming a media volunteer get involved here.

I think it's a new awards scheme but they've just announced their first winners: a social media company operating in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and a charity working with artists with learning disabilities. They've used film as a way for helping people express themselves creatively. There are more details if you go to: tinyurl.com/yepamjf
