Free play activities for children on Preston Green

Torbay Council and Preston Community Partnership have joined forces this summer to bring free play activities to children and families at Preston Green and beach this summer.
Torbay Play Rangers are organising days of play every Wednesday until August 25. Each week is different and the emphasis is on old-fashioned games, den making, water play, arts and crafts, competitions, sand castles and treasure hunts. Sessions run from 11am to 4pm.
The funding of the sessions is being supported by the Preston Community Partnership.
Play Rangers do not provide childcare - the children and young people are free to come and go as they choose. For this reason, the Play Rangers tend to work more with children and young people aged 8 years and over. Younger children are welcome if they are accompanied by older family members such as parents and grandparents.
Chairman of the Preston Community Partnership, Bob Brewis, said: "This is another great example of Preston Community partnership supporting public activities. We have already had a successful Preston picnic event and the Skim Boarding competition will take place on the 14 and 15 August.”
"We take great pride in supporting every part of our community and in particular young people."
All Play Rangers are trained, police checked 'detached' play workers who work in teams, bringing a variety of games and arts equipment with them for children and young people to play with during each session.
