Paignton town centre not doing too badly

Strange that with all of the empty stores in Crossways Paignton still apparently has a lower shop vacancy rate than Torquay or Brixham.
Statistics compiled by the Local Data Company’s mid-year shop vacancy report, published in September, showed that Paignton’s empty shop rate was 9.5 per cent.
Torquay’s was 13.5 percent and Brixham’s 11.3 per cent!
So perhaps not so bad after all…

Not so bad in terms of occupancy but OMG, so bad in terms of quality of what shopping is on offer. No one can seriously attempt to do their Christmas shopping in Paignton without going further afield. The choice is so limited and there are just no quality or bespoke shops. The only 'independent' shops sell trash. When are some decent retailers going to choose Paignton? There's always so much talk about improving the town but when will it happen?
