Paignton Zoo is very overrated

Anyone else been their lately and agree? Small shabby enclosures, few animals, to see (the one’s that are there seem lonely and frequently hide away), too much walking space between enclosures, the whole place seems run down!
I know it’s often touted as one of the best zoos in the country but after visiting the other day I really don’t see this. I can think of at least five or six animal attractions that I prefer.
The price too! It costs well over 50 pounds for a family visit! Last year I went to Chicago and the zoo there is ten times better and FREE.
Unless there’s a dramatic improvement I can see visitor numbers falling and falling.

Thanks, yeah I also got dizzy and tied trying to get around the place. Why are the attractions so far apart? And there's no real order to the attractions- just a free-for-all!

ReportI agree with the OP.I have been once and I wouldnt go again. The main reason being that it is totally unsuitable for the elderly or disabled people like myself. The attractions are badly signposted, too far apart, and above all,its too hilly.

ReportIt's good but I think it could be better. A lot of work seems to have gone into new attractions such as the crocodile house but perhaps other areas have been neglected.

ReportI have to disagree with the writer. We always have a great time there, it's good value for money and they're always bringing in new species. It's certainly the best zoo I've been to. Living Coasts is also great.

ReportYou're seriously comparing an attraction in Paignton to one in Chicago?? Please, Paignton Zoo is doing just fine.
