Paignton singer-songwriter through to Regional final of UK talent competition

Charley Pinfold a singer-songwriter from Paignton is through to the regional final of Live and Unsigned 2011.

The acoustic guitarist performed an original composition in front of a panel of judges at auditions in Plymouth yesterday.

She was competing against hundreds of bands and performers from the South West and was one of the lucky 48 acts who will go on to the regional finals next month.

Charley said: “It was nerve-wracking but exhilarating at the same time! It’s so amazing to find a platform like this where you can perform original music to industry experts.”

In the regional final the talented musician will have to perform her best original song that also incorporates a cover version of her choice.

Charley added: “I’m hoping to mix one of my favourite upbeat tracks with a slow tempo cover to show off my full range. Perhaps something by KT Tunstall or Lisa Hannigan/Damien Rice.”

If Charley gets through this regional final, she’ll be well on her way to competing at the Live and Unsigned Festival that is being held at O2 Arena in London this summer. 

There is over £100,000 in prizes to be won at this National event and the winner will be crowned the UK's best Live and Unsigned act. The winner’s prize package includes; International festival slots, a UK tour exposing their music to over 40,000 people and a £50,000 recording contract with Future Music.

The judging panel for the grand final will include industry experts like Annie Nightingale, Malcolm McLaren and Noddy Holder.
