A new service offered by libraries across Torbay means members can now borrow books, anytime, anywhere.

Torbay Council's libraries has expanded its digital services with more than 350 eBooks and audio books, available to download, at home or on the move, from the library’s website.

Library cardholders can now visit http://torbay.lib.overdrive.com, browse the online catalogue using their membership number and pin and then download for free digital books of their choice.

The collection includes best-selling and classic fiction and non-fiction as well as a variety of audio books and even language courses. The eBooks can be read immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including iPODs, Sony Readers, PCs or Macs. Some audio titles can also be burned to CD.

The books will automatically ‘expire’ at the end of the lending period, so members won’t incur overdue charges.

    This is a brilliant idea!

At first was a bit disappointed with Paignton's new library and its wierd exterior design (anyone think it looks a bit like a ferry?) but this proves the council have actually got their heads screwed on for a change and are backing a totally modern and revolutionary idea!

    Wonders will never cease ;-)
