Now that the fun and games of the summer holidays are all but over – how about spoiling yourself with a treat.

A good pampering can revitalise body and mind and ease you into the autumn months completely afresh.

Although up-the-road Totnes is famed for its therapeutic fixes Paignton more than holds its own in this department.

A good place to start is RT Hair & Beauty, 47 Torquay Road @ 47. They offer facials, body treatments, holistic therapy (which I’m told is a relaxing and therapeutic treatment working on the feet) amongst offer things.

Every kind of pampering can also be found at the locally renowned David Youll Hair and Beauty, on Torquay Road. Their treatments include massage, waxing and electrolysis, even non-surgical lifting treatment!

As well as having a gym, sauna and steam room, Haulfryn Health & Leisure, on Totnes Road, has recently expanded and now has a new studio offering health and beauty treatments. Services include manicures, pedicures, sports massages, hot stone massage and aromatherapy.

For a more physical approach to feeling good Torbay Leisure Centre has a large health suit that includes a 55-station gym, sauna, steam room and spa. As well as numerous instructors that can help your individual needs they also have lots of groups sessions available which can be a lot of fun.

An indoor and outdoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and gym facilities can be found at The Oasis Centre, in Beverley Park, on Goodrington Road. It is open to the public all year round and has monthly memberships available or a flat rate for a day.

A budget fitness option is Paignton College. You can use their gym for as little as 20 pounds per month. If just want a day fix then five pounds pays for a single session. There’s a qualified personal trainer there too if required.

Winners 2000 at the Modus Business Park, off Brixham Road, has a very large gym, sauna, steam room and two tanning beds if you want to keep hold of your summer tan!

For a different way to revitalise body and mind why not try Yoga?

Kay Lavin runs daytime and evening seven-week courses at the Collaton St. Mary Parish Hall.

There she promises to help you feel better mentally and physically – improving suppleness strength and stamina. For further information and prices visit her website: http://www.yogafortoday.co.uk/
