I'll go with the Frying Scotsman. I went there yesterday and forgot how good they were, especially the slightly battered chips... yum!

I agree hippychic, definitely has to be London Fryer in Preston. The queue sometimes goes outside the door, which is a good sign. They are quick to serve and the fish is so succulent and tasty. I'm always intrigued by how many people from London moved down to Torbay - and Midlanders, too. When you're out and about in the shops, you often hear these accents, and my own grandparents and parents can be included in that. They moved from London in the 70s to run a B&B in Torquay, and slowly the whole family moved down. It's thanks to this migration that we have such good fish and chips!
