Not many 'town/city' restaurants just serve English food. That's what country pubs are for. Paignton has a few good Indian restaurants and an italian (I think La Scala still open?). But yeah, perhaps no restaurants of note.

If Brixham is closed, try Paignton Harbour.

To get really good food you have to hop on the ferry and go to Dartmouth

Eating places are okay in Paignton but GOOD pubs are scarce.

So, nearly a month of posting and consensus is there are no restaurants of note in Paignton. You have an excellent Indian in Cilantro, an Anglified Thai in Thai Garden, Italian has to be Quo Vadis....but where is the QUALITY  English? Fast food, cooked by teenagers who are great at hovering over a microwave are everywhere....being in business, where CAN I send my guests?
    Totally exasparated|!

Brandy; I have only eaten once at the Boathouse,  3 yrs ago,...good portions, etc...but...frozen chips. Discerning customers want quality but inexpensive place. Perhaps I aim too high?I

Yep, happychic, the mountain lion is my animal namesake...suits me - cute & cuddly but woe betide if I get angst!
I agree on Harbour lights...excellent - when open. but at the top end of dining; people need good food that is great for every day dining too.
We shall have to see what happens with the new Wetherspoons in the high street....
