I see the notices are up for the usual increases of parking charges. Surely it makes sense to decrease the charges in the car parks which will see more people parking in them instead of everyone scouring the minor roads for free parking? It's commonsense and in these recession times, we all NEED to bring customers into the Bay - parking at a cheap cost is part of answer

I can't believe they have put the prices up, are they deliberately trying to kill off the town centres in Torbay ?
We have a small business in Paignton and our takings have dropped severely ever since those bloody meters where installed.
And to make matters worse not only have they increased the price of the tickets, they have altered the times you are allowed to park, ie it was 20p for ten minutes now its 50p for 20 minutes, if someone just needs to pop into a shop to pick up a paper or something they are not going to bother are they.
Torbay council needs to take a long serious hard look at what they are doing to the local community, times are hard for everyone.
What's the point in trying to promote our town through Paignton bid when our idiotic council pulls a stunt like this.

Totally agree with you, Max but the Council will carry on with their destruction of the Bay until all we have are bottom-end national hotels, no shops except charity shops and gaming casinos. Perhaps the Council wants to bulldoze Paignton and turn it into a desert - it's getting there!
As for all the empty shops - why haven't they rented them out - surely a pittance of rent is better than no rent and at least it gets people looking?
