Yes we are very interested in the Paignton Picture House, its a beautiful old building and where better to be set than alongside the steam trains! In Portsmouth, the locals wanted to save The Kings Theatre and so they put together a large group of volunteers who gave up their Sundays (what time they had) to do bits that they were physically able to do - i.e. paint walls, rub down and paint woodwork, right down to the re-guilding the gold bits and the councils bill to restore this beautiful theatre (as I believe it was to be sold) was reduced dramatically and it brought a huge community spirit alive and gave them all a sense that they were part of history in the making for all to enjoy now and in the future! We want to be part of something like that and I'm sure we're not alone!

Hi,
Remember well the cinema have long thought it should be opened. It would be wicked if Foreign films and Classics were shown make it a really interesting venue. Lots of people like to watch old films specially in that surrounding. I am willing to volunteer for anything. Good at painting etc., Will be going to the meeting on the 13th. Have plenty of ideas with regard to restoration work. Libby

Hi TLHall really interested in the future of Paignton Picture House/Torbay Cinema! But missed the meeting this week and I'm not available next week either :-(
When your Mum went on Weds did anyone mention if they are going to keep it as a cinema? Would love it if they showed old classics and independant films/world cinema etc. What was the general consensus for what it should be in the future?

Hey has everyone seen this great new video about the future of Torbay Cinema/Paignton Picture House? http://tinyurl.com/7vmhmhw
Really nice to see the interior of the building again with lots of happy movie memories starting to flood back.
Interesting to hear former manager of the place John Mann talk about how the cinema or 'Kinema' was first built too.
Definitely interested in coming to the next fundraiser/meeting for this. Does anyone know when/where that may be as the facebook page link isn't working above? :-(
