This doesn't sound good at all! How is it affecting you specifically Scalps? Have you lost regular bookings from clients?

Hmmm I agree with spin thief this doesn't seem good at all, especially as I imagine most businesses are pretty much hand to mouth these days.
What should the council have done instead? Perhaps offer free rent to businesses during the closure to make sure good people keep afloat!

More time to plan maybe a break away, I still haven't received notice of this work being done, I was told by another business opposite, I know the work needs to be done but there was no communcation with small businesses like mine, every town needs business but with no trade you have nothing, it will eventually end up like a ghost town

Sorry to hear of your losses, Scalps. The Council did not give enough notice, if any, to businesses and they appear they don't care. Years ago, they did the same to me in Garfield Road - less than a week to say they were digging up all the road for 6 weeks - they cost me £4000 in cancellations! When I complained I was told 'tough!'
Paignton is a ghost town - but a thriving place now for DSS and all it brings. Just look at the heavy, always closed, curtains that are everywhere in the town...it used to be a smart, thriving place....what will the future bring? No shops of note will survive and without footfall, it's looking very dire. Blackpool Riviera? Not even close! A dump says it all!
