Staff at Paignton Police Station are hoping to capture the public’s imagination when they open the station up to the community this weekend.
-
A chance to see the inner workings of Paignton Police Station.
On Saturday, July 31 between 10am and 4pm, visitors will be able to steal a look behind the scenes of the station in Southfield Road.
The public will be able to take a guided tour – viewing the inner workings of areas including the parade room, enquiry office, workshops, interview rooms and canteen.
There will be a wealth of neighbourhood policing information available with police officers, PCSOs and other staff on hand to discuss the work that they do in the local community.
In the car park will be an armed response vehicle, a car from the road policing (traffic) unit, the road safety bike crash trainer as well as the Force museum van, which comes with vintage police items including stocks!
Other highlights include the new CCTV van – the latest policing tool designed to support the work of the local neighbourhood teams.
PC Ruth Le Messurier, who has organised the event, said:
“We are hoping that anyone, young or old, will find something of interest if they come down and meet us on the day.
“There is plenty to do and see at the station and the opportunity to see the goings on behind the doors of an operational police station.
“We will all be on hand to give out help and advice, including crime prevention information or to offer general advice on any police subject.”

PC Le Messurier. Isn't that the same surname of the guy who played Wilson in Dad's Army? I wonder if they're related??
