Operation Mansfield latest: Man arrested in West Midlands

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in the West Midlands today on suspicion of the rape of two women and sexual activity with a child – in connection with Operation Mansfield.

The man, who lives in Brierley Hill, is formerly of Torquay and was arrested at Brierley Hill Police Station this morning.
A team of detectives from Operation Mansfield travelled up from Torbay to Brierley Hill today to interview the suspect.
He remains in custody at this time at Brierley Hill Police Station.
Senior Investigating Officer Det Insp Simon Snell said: “Police continue to interview a number of children in Torbay in connection with Operation Mansfield.
“We are still asking anyone with any information to please come forward and speak to us regarding child exploitation in the bay area.
“I need to reiterate to any families and children who have been affected to please come forward and speak to us – we are able to protect anyone who picks up the phone and talks to us.”
Police, working with partners in Torbay including the Children’s Safeguarding Board, Children’s Services, Health and Education have been working together to provide support to the victims throughout this enquiry.

UPDATE: 9/3 -
The 22-year-old man was released on conditional bail at around midnight last night.
He is due to answer bail in April. As part of his bail he is not allowed to enter Devon nor be in contact with any witnesses.
