And now you, the readers of thisissouthdevon, can name the twins.
The keepers have come up with four names for you to choose from. The two pandas are both girls and the four names chosen are Mulan, Meilin, Meili and Mai.
Just take a look at the poll on the right and vote for the combination of names you like the best.
The twins, born on July 9, stayed in the den for many weeks after birth. These are the first official photos of them.
Neil Bemment, Curator of Mammals at Paignton Zoo, said: “The red panda is classed as Vulnerable by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, which means it is facing a high risk of extinction in the wild.”
The red or lesser panda comes from the mountains of Bhutan, China, India, Laos, Myanmar and Nepal. It lives in high altitude forest and eats bamboo shoots, grass, roots, fruit, acorns and occasionally mice and birds. It has fur on the pads of its paws to help keep heat in and to prevent it slipping on wet or snowy surfaces.

Hi dimondbabe. To choose a name for Paignton Zoo's red pandas, you need to go to the original story on the This Is South Devon website: http://tinyurl.com/czlxqam
Hope that's helpful.
