Maisons Coffee Shop

Maison’s Coffee Shop is a large bistro located on Victoria Street in Paignton. Here they sell delicious fresh coffee and also stock a range of snacks from salads to jacket potatoes. The Shmoo crushed ice fruit drinks are popular in the summer, and Maison’s has a good take away service for sandwiches and pastries.

    flies found in salad!

Used to go to Maisons regularly, as they have a really delicious coffee (latte to die for!) and I loved the jacket potatoes too — fluffy, with plenty of filling and the side salad. Unfortunately, I stopped going there after I found fruit flies in my salad once, I was shocked and felt slightly unwell because it suddenly became clear to me that I probably ate quite a few of them before, never checking the salad properly. So, kudos for the coffee, but a major minus for serving unwashed salad. Needless to say, I will never eat there again.

    Lazy lunches

Maisons is very central in Paignton. It has a takeaway section for rolls and pasties etc, but the seating area is a little narrow. This makes it hard to navigate with a pram or pushchair, but once you get past the long counter you go down a couple of stairs and there is a wider seating area. With no windows but plenty of mirrors it is very intimate down there but it makes it very relaxing.

My favourite lunch is a baked potato. They are nice and big and have been baked in an oven rather than just microwaved and they are very generous with the fillings.
