I'm not an avid fan of zoos, but the conservation plans they set out are always successful. They really do care about their animals. You will find animals in good enclosures here and not behind bars. There is a really good map of the zoo, with a desert area, rainforest area etc. It's never ridiculously busy either because of the sheer space. The whole zoo in itself is a charity. So I cannot complain about eithics, as they're great :)

A wonderful day out, home to thousands of rare animals and plants. Visit the desert, cross the savannah, explore the forest. Come and enjoy

This zoo is definitely an all day family outing, and with picnic table facilities and indoor and outdoor play areas for the children makes it a perfect location if you can't afford to eat out as well as pay for the zoo visit. The zoo also provides lots of free parking.

ReportI went to Paignton Zoo with my gran in 2009 and we spent ages there just looking at the animals and wandering around. You will want to leave plenty of time to go and have a look at what there is as it's huge! We spent a good six hours there so it was well worth our money. This place would be great for children too although I don't have any, I know that as a big kid I loved the place.

Paignton Zoo is a really good value for money family day out, as you can easily spend a whole day there and sometimes one day is not enough to see everything! With plenty of free parking available and easy access, just off Totnes Road and frequent bus connection from all neighbouring towns, the zoo is easy to find, although can get quite busy at weekend and with roadworks currently causing traffic problems at Tweeneway junction, it’s better to arrive there earlier. The biggest attraction of the zoo are of course the animals — and there are plenty of spacious end clean animal enclosures around — from the biggest, such as lions, tigers, zebras, elephants, gorillas, giraffes, rhinos and hippos to a great variety of monkeys and smaller animals and birds. In the evening they seasonally organise a badger watch, which we are planning to go this summer. The zoo is set in a beautiful and relaxing surroundings, there are also a few playgrounds and soft play area for children and a miniature train ride. There’s a restaurant and bar, but if you are watching your pennies — take packed lunch with you, there are many outdoor picnic spots.

The zoo is truely a full day out. If you get bored of the animals, as if you could, there's so much else to do. On rainy days the indoor play centre is great for families with little ones looking to burn off some excess energy. If you are on a budget then there are plenty of places to each a packed lunch. Just watch out for the monkies.

ReportAnd yes I admit to being biassed. Having grown up in the bay but lived in a variety of places around the country, I think the new improved Environmental Park (as it now is) knocks the spots off most zoos and animal attractions.
Really well laid out, with acres of space and amazing habitats; you also have the beautifully tended gardens, the different play areas for the children and of course the fabulous miniture railway that is a 'must' go on when you visit and always has been.
It is not the cheapest attraction but they do have family tickets and memberships and holiday tickets, plus it's a full day out. One tip - they do have plenty of snack bars and restaurants but we normally take a picnic and drinks to save money!

A fantastic attraction and one all ages will love. A day is almost not long enough to spend there because there's so much to see. And every time you visit there's always something new to see.
It has a huge array of animals and is very well layed out too. Thumb up from my and my family.
Paignton Zoo is such a good value day out in Torbay. I think that apart from the beaches it is the number 1 attraction for the bay. They have spend alot of money on it over the past few years and really improved thier conservation projects. They have also the new addition of a baby giraffe born this week. a wide range of animals and a great play area too. Well worth it.
Paignton zoo has got to be the main tourist attraction for Paignton. It is one of the best zoos in the country. There is so many animals to look at and all set in a very big area. There is picnic areas, pub ,restuarant and a large indoor soft play area for the kids. There is a gift shop and also lots of outdoor play areas.Great fun for all the family!
