WITH VALENTINE'S Day  fast approaching, a question is being asked all over Paignton – where to dine with your sweetheart?

For a truly romantic evening, you'll want to make the most of the Paignton's lovely setting, so why not consider a cosy country inn to canoodle in over the champagne? The multi award winning Church House Inn at Marldon has just the right mix of cosiness and luxury  and a menu packed with delicious locally-sourced fresh and seasonal meat, fish, cheese and produce. It was the first pub in Devon to be listed in the Michelin Pub Guide, and has also been voted Devon's Dining Pub of the Year 2013 by the Good Pub Guide. Their three-course Valentine's Menu costs £40 per head, including complimentary coffee and madeleines at the end of the meal, and you'll be spoiled for choice, with classic French dishes on offer including Filet Mignon, Bouillabaisse and Confit Duck Breast. sydneymoore says the food is 'superb' and JP HEDGE PHOTOGRAPHY agrees: 'The food was amazing, really good value for the price. It's just one of those lovely pubs where you can really relax'. No wonder readers of Devon Life magazine voted the Church House Inn Devon's Best Country Pub!

Seaside romance...

What could be more romantic than a seaside stroll followed by a delicious Valentine's dinner? Shoreline at Paignton Beach is offering a sumptuous four-course Valentine's menu for £45 per head, featuring such mouthwatering main courses as confit duck with plum sauce, seared English sirloin steak with garlic field mushroom and beef tomato and gratinated tiger prawns and scallops with smoked bacon and sherry sauce. Desserts include vanilla pannacotta and Valentines caramel cheescake. MajaCurtis says: 'Fancy a relaxing dinner surrounded by stunning views? We visit the place regularly, sometimes for a meal, sometimes simply for a cup of coffee (and the coffee is excellent) and we always leave rejuvenated! One could spend hours in there looking at the waves... The food is delicious, maybe not the cheapest, but it is definitely worth paying that bit extra! I could not recommend this place high enough!'

The hub of every seaside town is its harbour and Paignton is no exception. So why not take in the wonderful views with your sweetheart at TJs Restaurant?  TJs promises 'a taste of the Mediterranean in the heart of the English Riviera'. And it's another favourite with Paignton People users – hogs1 praises its 'Quality food, with great presentation, good service, nice ambience', and plaidshirt says it's 'Great for a relaxing dinner by the sea'.

An evening to remember...

The Redcliffe Hotel is another lovely seaside venue, and this Valentine's Day they have a very special offer for Paignton People users. For just £54 for two (normal price £60) you and your sweetheart can enjoy a suberb three-course candlelit dinner, with a complimentary bottle of house wine and a red rose for your partner! Iwonda says it's a 'wonderful spot by the water offering views across the bay', and mr_eddd adds: 'The food was great and the service very attentive'. Or perhaps some hot stuff is what gets you in the mood? If so, check out Thaiisaan's  Champagne Valentine's Evening: for just £50 for two, enjoy a glass of Champagne to begin with, followed by mixed starters, three main dishes plus rice and noodles and Strawberry Cheesecake for dessert! Mosschops 17 says it's 'a lovely place with happy staff and the food is excellent value for money'.

With all that choice, we know you and your beloved will have a special evening to remember! We love a romantic story here at Paignton People, so do tell us about it – especially if you propose this Valentine's and your sweetheart accepts!

Happy Valentine's Day!
