TV 'theft' con

A PAIGNTON woman tried to dupe police over the 'theft' of a television.

She claimed thieves had stolen the TV by taking it out through the lounge window of her home.

But suspicious police measured the window and discovered it was smaller than the TV.

The set was eventually found hidden under a bed upstairs.

The woman was given an on-the-spot fine.

Police said the woman was lucky to escape more serious action. See Page 3.
