GIRLS are urgently needed to step up as a potential Miss Torbay.

Miss Torbay and her ladies in waiting have been part of Torbay Carnival for more than 50 years.
The organisers stress it is not a beauty contest, but a great opportunity for contestants to show off their personality, ideals and ambitions and is a great experience.
The carnival is a charity event and organisation, non-profit making and a community initiative.
The winning contestants represent Torbay by attending various civic functions, fund raisers, opening charity and school fetes, travelling throughout South Devon taking part in carnivals and meeting interesting people along the way.
Torbay carnival committee started the extensive search for Miss Torbay at the beginning of each year by holding a number of photo shoots at various locations within the Bay.
The next sessions are Thursday, February 28, Toorak Hotel, Greenaway Room, Chestnut Drive, Torquay; Monday, March 4, Focal Point Photography, Crossways Shopping centre, Paignton.
The rehearsal, to be confirmed, will be at Beverley Park, Goodrington Road, Paignton, on Saturday March 23.
If you think you could be the next Miss Torbay and are over 16, single and live in the Torbay area go along to one of the photo shoots. Entrants under 18 will need to have a parents'/guardians' signature.
THE organising committee is also appealing for help with structural repairs to the Miss Torbay float created each year. This is mainly done by using recycled materials which are donated by local businesses. Anyone who can help with materials for essential maintenance and building of our float should contact the carnival committee on 07709 092250.
