Freezing temperatures could bring icy conditions overnight and tomorrow morning on Devon's roads
The warning came as Devon Councy Council announced that gritters will be going out in the early hours of the morning at 1am and possibly again at 6am.
Around 20 per cent of the network is gritted on those roads which carry 70 per cent of the traffic.
Cabinet member for Highways and Transportation, Stuart Hughes says; "Obviously with all the recent flooding and so much water running off from the surrounding land, freezing temperatures could bring extremely icy conditions. Whilst the gritters will be out in force, don't assume a road has been treated. I would advise residents to drive with extreme caution certainly over the coming days whilst freezing temperatures are expected."
In the meantime, problems remain at the following roads and bridges due to flooding or water damage.
A379 at Frogmore is closed due to a burst water main
Wisdome Bridge, Cornwood is closed due to flood damage
Waterstave Bridge near Bradninch is closed
Halberton to Sampford Peverell will be closed until at least tomorrow due to the ongoing canal works
