Actors and technicians needed for rapidly growing theatre group

The South Devon Players theatre company from Brixham are a fast growing non-profit local theatre company, based in Torbay, Devon.
We are urgently looking for new members; as we grow, create larger shows, and also receive more requests for castings from film/ TV/ photography companies, as well as from local community groups, we need more members to help fulfil the requests and to keep the group growing. We are looking for actors & actresses, stage techs, fundraisers, front of house helpers, etc.
We specialise in historical, classical and mythology themed theatre shows, which are usually performed around the South Devon area. We are also looking at creating a film-section (dependant on a pilot project planned for 2014), a "paid shows" section, and a section of people performing smaller medieval shows which can go to community groups and fetes.
Founded in 2005 on the proceeds of a carboot sale, we have progressed rapidly, and in late 2013 received sponsorship from London for extra performances of our non-musical drama of Les Miserables, after the person in question came to see one of our shows, and was that impressed he instantly booked and paid for a theatre for us to perform again! Audience feedback for recent 2013 shows has frequently rated us as on a par with, if not preferred, to performances at the Globe Theatre, and the Theatre Royal, despite our budgets being much lower with much smaller facilities.
We do have requirements of our members, that they are aged 16+ (on occasion we may allow members as young as 13, with written parental permission and dependant on casting, but please be aware we are NOT a children's club), are serious and dedicated, willing to attend rehearsals up to two-three times a week, and able to adhere to a code of conduct requiring strict observance of social niceties, and a professional attitude. The vast majority of our performances are family friendly ("U" / "G" rated equivalent.). We do not require previous experience, as we have members ranging from almost no experience, through to performers with professional experience and with Masters degrees in theatre.
All members work together at a team, in a respectful atmosphere, regardless of age or experience.
Our core shows are unpaid, with all profits made being put straight back into the group and creating the next shows, however, we are often contacted by outside film/ TV/ modelling companies, and some of these opportunities are paid, and there are currently moves underway towards creating a "paid" section within the theatre company.
Members are also able to develop their portfolios with character/ project photographs, video clips for showreels, references (after completion of at least one show "run" in good standing), and increasing their performance skills, as new skills often have to be learned for our shows.
We stand for working closely with our local community and other groups / companies (amateur, professional and student), developing all members skills, creating high quality performances within our selected genres, developing skills and facilities towards members creative careers, and immersing ourselves in the joy of high-quality creative performance. If that appeals to you, then please contact us today! We have open auditions coming up all through 2014, and would love to see you!
